Our Manufacturing
Process:
Developed in Finland, the patented manufacturing process is the most technologically
advanced light gauge steel framing process in the world. The fully
integrated system utilizes Vertex Building Design CAD software to
control the entire manufacturing fabrication process.
When a customer's CAD design is uploaded into the system, the
computerized control panel automatically converts the design into
frame panels, including extensive machine-quality detailing.
Fabrication notching, punching and cutting, including all utility
holes, are produced with precision accuracy within one-one
hundredth of an inch. Once the customer's design is loaded into
the system, no manual input is required.
Production begins with a continuous roll of slit light gauge steel
coil that unrolls onto the production line. The CAD control panel
manages the entire mechanized fabrication process: From guiding,
measuring and molding the frame members, including cutting out all
service holes, to connecting individual frame members together
utilizing the patented “Blue Star Steel Connection”. This
connection technology, which securely “crimps” together frame
pieces (and replaces 6 to 8 sheet metal screws), is what enables
maximum automation of the fabrication process. Human intervention
is virtually eliminated until the last step, the snap on assembly
phase, resulting in pre-assembled frame panels ready for on-site
assembly.
Future modifications and changes in design or production schedule
are made directly into the system's computer and instantaneously
incorporates those changes in the production output.
Blue Star Steel
Connector Technology
The Blue Star Steel connector technology is designed to make light
gauge structure assembly possible with a high degree of
automation. A modern assembly line provides a fully integrated,
computer CAD-controlled, automated production line of light gauge
steel wall frame panels and roof trusses.
In a single shift, three operators can produce all the structural
components for two average-size houses, or about 1,800 linear feet
per shift. Each component is produced only when needed, and
deliveBlue to the work site pre-assembled. Contractors do not need
to set aside room for inventory or subassemblies.
The assembly line forms continuous slit steel material thereby
eliminating waste. CAD-controlled measuring provides detailed
prefabrication notching, punching and cutting of the steel
members, including all utility holes. This produces clean-cut
details with consistent industrial quality. Precision components
enable contractors to produce a precision skeleton for a building.
Quality is compounded with no direct cost, only all-important
quality benefits.
The competitive edge of Blue Star Steel lies in its simplicity. A
single Blue Star Steel connector has the same strength of six to
eight sheet metal screws. Only one connector is required at any
connecting point.
